Abandoned Beach House?
There is a pretty beach house near where I live. My friends and I were staying at another house near by it. We were walking to the beach and we saw this pretty big one that was empty and the doors we completely unlocked. We went inside and it was a little dirty dirty and there were a few dead cock roaches here and there. The pool in the back yard was drained out and rust and all sorts of other stuff were unkempt. There wasn’t a for sale or rent or any sort of real estate sign on it either. That was during this summer, so were going to go back and see if it’s still empty.
If it is, would it be illegal if my friends used it? Like, fixed it up, or went and hung out in it after the beach? I don’t want to get in trouble for trespassing, but it’s completely abandoned!
You need the owners permission to use the premises. What you’re contemplating is called squatting, just walking into an unused property and taking it over. You can look on the county website and probably find the owner listed in the tax records.
Being vacant does not mean it is abandoned. Even abandoned it is still not public property.
Yes, you can get into trouble for being on the land (trespassing) and being inside (breaking and entering), both include jail time and high fines.
Just because it looks abandoned doesn’t mean it is. You can get into so much trouble for being there, Better stay out
You would be tresspassing.
