Will Braces Hurt As Bad As Spacers?

I just had my braces put in about an hour ago, and I don’t really want to look forward to as much pain as I had when I had my spacers put in, that was killer. So what do I have to look forward to? I’ve already gotten used to eating with them in, because I have a feeling they will hurt enough for me not to be able to eat, so I’ve stocked up, lol

  1. Them spacers were a real pain in the ***. When I had braces I ate what I normally ate.

  2. When you first get braces on, they do hurt as much as spacers. It will be about 3 days before you can eat normal food. But then, each time you get them tightened will hurt a little less. After a about a year and a half, it will only be a tiny little bit sore.
I would use that numbing gel stuff the orthodontist gives you to get you gums used to the metal. Good Luck!

  3. You’ll Get Used To The Pain Of The Braces.
It Only Lasts For Like 1 Week Or 2.
When I First Got Mine they Hurt Alot Because Since I Play Soccer I Always Got Hurt :[
But Im Getting Them Off In 2 Days(:
Don't Worry The Pain Will Go Away :]

  4. Braces or spacers never hurt…..they just make your teeth sore. I had braces for 3 years and never once did I experience any pain. Just soreness.
I was eating crunch cereal the day after I had braces put on.

  5. spacers are worse. but braces will only hurt when you get themed tightened for maybe like 2 – 3 days

  6. Yeah Braces will make your teeth sore after a week or so

  7. I actually just got braces on Monday! I had no pain on the first day, and moderate/mild pain yesterday and today. My teeth are only hurting a bit though (the most when I wake up in the morning), but it’s the chafing of the brackets on my mouth! For the back bracket that’s hurting you, use wax if the orthodontist gave it to you. Wax is a true life saver, because it stops the sharp brackets from digging into your lips. I didn’t have spacers, so I don’t know how the pain is compared to that, but overall (although it depends on the person) braces can be from no to moderate pain. Just take Advil if they hurt, and eat soft foods. (I’ve been living on mashed potatoes, oatmeal, soup, pudding, ice cream, mac and cheese, and smoothies.) Good luck!!
