I think it’s ridiculous :/ Why do people need to know or want other people to know what they are up to everywhere they are?
I think it’s a waste of space and time. Not to mention you have the same feature on a lot of social networking sites already… twitter is just heavily marketed so all th eidiots follow it and 60% of it are internet marketers themself trying to make money of people that are so stupid to use it…
Twitter is an excellent tool to communicate in real time if used properly. Twitter is also vastly becoming the to-go source for real time info on current events. The current student protests in Moldova are real proof of that, where they are using it to communicate and stratigize their movement. Google is currently also very interested in Twitter, if that says something.
But, what about work, what about productivity losses, etc. Isn’t that going to be a problem!? To start, there are some great tools that help with twitter marketing. But, lets focus on productivity, right away I setup Gtalk to take in my twitter feed, so that it wouldn’t interfere with the day-to-day and I could passively check updates, etc. (that worked great, until twitter started running into server issues, but I digress) Lately, I have been using Twhirl for it all and it has been great to be able to be able to get involved in conversations, etc. and to be honest, at this point, prefer using it over IM.

I think it’s cool to feel connected to other people.
But let’s be honest, how many people in your real life do you know that use it?
