Instruments For Beginners.what Are Some Easy Instruments To Learn ?
i kinda always wanted to learn how to play on something
my 18th b-day is coming in a week so i decided that maybe it might be a right to start and learn how to play on something i mean your never too old to learn new things the thing is i have no idea about instruments
im was a church singer for a long time , i took a part of the musicals in school , im a singer i do enjoy the old rock/pop music artist’s like ann and nancy willson ,janice joplin, bonnie tyler, rolling stones, pat benetar, aerosmith ,cher, guns and roses, led zepplin, ozzy osbourne etc…
im thinking about maybe an acoustic guitar i know that i will have some troubles when it comes to reading the music notes as i said im “green ” when it comes to the instruments
The poster that said that piano requires little technique is completely and utterly wrong piano requires an immense amount of technique if you want to play it well playing piano is not hard playing well proves to be a difficult task. Do you intend to play modern or classical? with modern sloppy technique is less of a problem but because of the artists you listed particularly Led Zepplin leads me to think maybe guitar because it is easy to learn the chords the rest just takes practice
Price of Acoustic Guitars vary but you can get cheap ones at approx $200 but prices can go up to very large sums of money your best bet is going to a local music shop and asking for a beginners acoustic guitar and seeing what is available the people at the store will be happy to help and know what they are talking about and will give you better advice on this than anyone on yahoo answers
another thing to consider is that certain people are suited to different instruments for example my friend has a natural hand and mouth shape to play the clarinet while i have the natural had and mouth shape for flute my other friend has very long and flexible fingers she plays piano, viola, violin and guitar – go to the music store and see what instrument you can play
I think playing the piano would because mistakes are less noticeable. I don’t know how to really explain it, There isn’t much to the technique. In a guitar you can’t mess up fingering miss the strings and stuff like that. But piano is also hard when it comes to the harder pieces. I taught guitar to myself and after 3 years it’s still pretty hard by yourself and I still mess up. Just try different instruments and go with the one that feels the best. Or look at videos that will inspire you.
are you planning on teaching yourself or hiring a teacher? im 17 and just started teaching myself piano from a book-its slower than lessons, but pretty good…
idk how much guitars cost though…
good luck!
Piano is always an easy option.
If you want to move on and study multiple instruments, I recommend piano first. Here’s why: piano music uses both treble clef and bass clef (or g and f, respectively), and learning to read both will make your life a lot easier in the long run. Also, you have to learn to do different things with each hand, which, if you master it, will probably make it easier to sing while playing. In addition to this, on piano you learn a lot of basic theory, such as chord structure, scales, and keys, which will help not only in composition but on learning other instruments, such as acoustic guitar. However, if you are after immediate gratification, go for the guitar, since it’s easy to teach yourself a few simple chords and sound as if you’ve made a lot of progress.
I don’t want to be a downer, though, but think really hard about switching schools. I don’t know about Berklee in particular, but almost all of the performing arts schools I know of require a portfolio and an audition, and most music schools require proficiency in at least one instrument in addition to competitive singing, if you plan to be a vocalist. You probably also need a thorough base in music theory. If that’s really what you want to do, by all means, go for it, but try and remember that you don’t have to study to be a musician. You can always learn instruments and vocal technique, and perform just for yourself and your own satisfaction.
